The Electoral College

There has been a 'buzz' in the Left Wing Press over the past few days that Trump will be stopped by the Electoral College.
I have never read so much nonsense in my life – other than the rubbish put out by Trump about Mexican illegal immigrants all being rapists drug dealers and murderers.

Let us be clear about one thing: Donald Trump will become President of The United States of America in January – whether you or I like it or not.
That is a titanic fact of life. I say 'titanic because now, only God himself (or herself!) can stop this from happening – and, as I always say, don't ever rely on the 'Cavalry' to come to the rescue in time to save your sweet and sorry ass.

It might help to read the reference I give taken from the magazine 'Politico' which explains how the electoral college is made up.
Another very good read is Vox Media (also given below).
Both will clearly explain to those with their heads in the clouds (or in the sand!) why Donald Trump will be comfortably elected President by the Electoral College – and probably by the numbers given.
Yes I know, Hillary won the popular vote.
(The only interesting fact here – and one which neither Politico nor Vox mention by the way – is that the Electoral College exists to prevent a demagogue or tyrant coming to power. It is the last 'fail-safe' check in the process – just in case the electorate 'got it wrong' and elected a madman or tyrant.
Apparently Politico nor Vox do not think that this is worth mentioning to you so I thought I would just add it for your deeper thinking and consideration.)

Every Dark Cloud Has …......
I can understand the dismay, anger and frustration – but there is a silver lining to the U.S. Election.
Trump will pick the most right-wing most extremist team which has existed in any Cabinet in the democratic world since the Fuhrer Adolf Hitler came to power in Germany.
The people he appoints – from the Supreme Court downwards – will all be working to implement what can only be called neo-Right (Nirvana) policies.

The 'Donkey' Mainstream Media Which Gave Platform To Mr Trump and His New 'Movement'
With the media cowed into silence by new anti-defamation and libel laws
(see my blog 'what if Trump becomes President') and McCarthy-like Witch hunts in full swing against 'anti-Trump' vocal activists for 'unAmerican activities' and 'supporters of terrorism'; I know how bizarre this is going to sound, but when America finally emerges from the darkness it's about to plunge into for some time, the 'cleansing' process will be better for real democracy, worldwide.

Poor Is The Man …........
I recently saw a very interesting documentary about the great earthquake and tsunami followed by firestorms with temperatures in excess of 1000 degrees, which devastated Lisbon, Portugal, on All Saints Day, 1755.
To cut a long story short, the Chief Inquisitor and most of the noblemen and women perished in the ensuing firestorms because of the time of day it struck – most were praying in the early day because it was a Holy Day.
The people spared by the earthquake, tsunami and fire (before law and order were restored) were mainly criminals in the prisons who created terror as they ravaged and pillaged the rubble human, animal and charcoaled remains of what was once one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
Law and order was eventually restored and, the new Prime Minister of Lisbon (SebastiĆ£o de Melo, Marquis of Pombal, a title which was only granted to him for services rendered in 1770, fifteen years after the great earthquake, tsunami and firestorms.). to show his contempt of religion, made one last gesture – burning alive a prominent Catholic Priest – before declaring that the Inquisition was a thing of the past and religious persecution, effectively dead.
[The priest in question was a political enemy and had attempted to earlier get the (now) Prime Minister or 'Ruler' of Lisbon indicted by Inquisitors on charges of immorality and licentious living.]
[If you are a religious believer, it may also interest you that the earthquake tsunami and ensuing firestorms destroyed all of Lisbon's churches - filled to capacity with the faithful – it being All Saints Day - mansions, citadels, manorial and diplomatic residences and the only buildings which remained undamaged were Lisbon's brothels (!) , all completely spared from the devastation from which the city never recovered, even to this day, as a center of European and global trade and commerce.
Through equally bizarre circumstances (involving another 'wobbly' or structurally failing building - The British Embassy in Lisbon - where we were to have been originally hosted) I was a 'guest' in what was one of the earthquake, tsunami and fire 'spared' brothels - used for the past century, I need to hastily add, for more 'legitimate' matters – such as business meetings, conferences and diplomatic receptions.    It was a very impressive, very comfortable and a very ornate building – reflective of the wealth and opulence which gave it patronage before 1755.]

So 'what has all this to do with President-elect Trump?, you may well ask.
Well, as they sometimes say, 'things change'.

You need to understand now that, when it happens, you will never know that the mainstream media has been silenced.
One of the rules is that they cannot tell you they have 'gagging orders' or if they do, they are closed down - their licence being revoked with immediate effect.

America simply cannot succeed under Trump unless he carries a very big (military) stick and is prepared to use it when dealing with countries and trade blocs which oppose his foreign policy agendas - particularly those economic and military agendas he will need to secure to fulfill anything remotely like the promises he has made to a disaffected and disillusioned home base of loyal followers.

As I have said on many occasions China will be one of two main beneficiaries.
China's number one foreign policy dictum is 'never get involved in the domestic affairs of business partners – just do the business'.
China will accept whatever level of tariffs Trump imposes – and pass them on to the American consumer in the form of higher prices.   It's a win-win situation for both Trump and China.
President Trump can say he imposed phenomenal tariffs - 100-500-1000% - on Chinese-made products and goods and China can 'play ping-pong' – complaining publicly about such 'unfair' 'illegal' practices, doing nothing else, and quietly passing on the prices to consumers worldwide – they will still be cheaper - even with the higher price tags - than anything which could be manufactured in Michigan or Oregon – unless Trump introduces a 'slave economy' to manufacture 'made in America' goods and produce.
(Perhaps using incarcerated prisoners in the [privatized] Federal Prisons system to produce 'slave labor' goods and, with the Supreme Court 'secured'. changing the law to expand this practice and make it perfectly legal.)

As I also said, many intellectuals and persons of wealth will now look for
temporary abode (political asylum) in other domains.
The same happened in prewar Nazi Germany. Those who were wise (and rich enough) got out well in advance of all the restrictive laws being passed.

But remember, most Americans do not have such resources and will just have to learn to live (and suffer) under the (democratically elected) totalitarian dictatorship of Donald Trump.   I always keep mentioning, because people forget, that The Fuhrer was democratically elected into office in Germany on the back of popular discontent, and was 'invited' to form a new government.

In the short term this will be a disaster but in the longer term it will be a 'cleansing' process for the United States.

So China has nothing to loose (and indeed many things to gain) under a Trump dictatorship.

As to the American ordinary folk as a whole, as I said earlier, most will remain exactly where they have always been – at the bottom of the heap with no hope, no future, no prospects, no equality and certainly no justice.
(For the latter it is clear that most of Trump's appointees to his Cabinet will favor voting rights restrictions and legitimize Gerrymandering to secure future Republican majorities in both Houses. Trump can do this if he makes the 'right' Supreme Court appointments and subsequent amendments are made to the U.S. Constitution – which is also highly likely.)

Respice post te! Hominem te esse memento! Memento mori!”

Broken promises and shattered dreams will be Trump's legacy to the majority of the American people.

My hope is that you will not be flying over Washington eight or ten or twenty years from now and seeing it as we saw Berlin in ruins after a devastating war which cost 50 million lives.
I am pretty sure you will not, but nothing is for absolute certainty in this world.

Afghanistan
Graveyard of Foreign (Alien) Empires
I want to summarize Afghanistan to the uninitiated because it is a complex tribal country with very intricate, (shifting sands) tribal and sub-tribal relationships.
One of President Trump's decisions will be what to do about the presence of U.S. Forces in this country.
To really know Afghanistan you must at least be familiar with some of it's history from about the time of Alexander of Macedon.
I will not be giving any history lessons here only to say that it is (or was) one of the most beautiful, picturesque, awe-inspiring countries in the whole world and it's people one of the most friendly and welcoming any foreign traveller could ever find anywhere in the world.
It's beauty lies (or lay) somewhere between that of Shiraz (Iran) and Samarkand (Uzbekistan)
It is so awe-inspiring in natural geologic and scenic beauty that words fail me here.
If you are a racist or passionate about genetic purity you will not like Afghanistan.
It's peoples are a genetic blend of the races, marauding and conquering armies which have swept through the lands for over two thousand years – usually on their way to somewhere else.
Afghans are a very resilient people who have seen off the British Empire, the Soviet Empire and now, the Americans, despite enormous hardships and sufferings on a scale difficult for you to imagine.
(Hopefully, some day, they will also, likewise, 'see off' the most brutal of oppressors they now have to endure -the Taliban and ISIS.)

A Brief Background Overview
It's perhaps when you really get to know peoples of these regions that you can see how a religion of peace (like Buddhism) could very quickly attract followers. Equally so for Islam.
ISIS, Al Qaeda and the Taliban are not representative of Islam.
They represent less than 1% of a religion with followers of some 1.6 billion faithful. One per cent of 1.6 billion is still a very significant figure of crazies, worldwide.
Islam was a military empire – since the days of the Prophet whereas Buddhism was, for the most part (like Christianity brought to Ireland by St. Patrick, a slave boy, captured in a Viking raid on the Welsh coast) adopted because of how impressed the philosophy and 'message' for life, the family, community, social and trade relations and the very essence of existence and co-existence had on rulers and persons of influence in particular countries and who were eager to adopt it and to promote its values throughout their respective countries.

(The greatest of all admirals of the ancient Chinese seafarers for the Great Treasure Fleet - which spread Chinese influence throughout the Pacific world, South China Sea, Indian Ocean and as far as Zanzibar, when Europe was in an age of darkness and uncivilized - the influence of Rome long having died out on the continent - was himself of the Islamic faith.   But for a quirk of history, the United States today would be a Mandarin or Cantonese [possible Han-majority] speaking peoples.   That quirk of history, interestingly, was Confucianism – todays equivalent of 'Trumpism'.)

As with Christianity, Buddhism, Islam and Judaism, both soft diplomacy and military might have been utilized as and when required.
Even today Islam is both a religious and 'militant' (advocacy) religion which, like other 'isms' I can think of, has no time for integration with other faiths, but is more concerned with promoting an ultimate unipolar vision for the whole world – where it, as a State religion (or philosophy) triumphs as the sole ethical, moral, political and spiritual voice for planet Earth.
Please appreciate that the biggest religious conversions in the world today are to the Islamic faith.
(As I have said for decades, the greatest era for this particular faith, as an empire, in the Americas, is yet to come.)

Back to today's Afghanistan.

President Trump will either have to fully (and not begrudgingly) support a U.S. military presence or withdraw completely.
Sadly for Trump either choice is the wrong one – but I want to explain why.

To The Devil A Bride
Staying in Afghanistan means a 'pact with the devil' - which in this case is Pakistan. But don't forget folks, Donald Trump is a businessman first – and money is king.
Where do you think the Taliban and ISIS are getting most of their weapons, training, supplies, intelligence and and advanced logistical capabilities from?  It is of course Pakistan. (But don't expect CNN and other oligarch media empires, anxious to do business in Pakistan to tell you this.   I said this in 2002 and was subsequently marginalized.)
Their bottom line, as with Trump, is money and business – and hang the rest of the world if it doesn't go along.
In my opinion. as with Saudi Arabia, we (Christendom) have been sold out by our politicians to Pakistan for less than thirty pieces of silver.   The media is not telling you the truth about the dangers which Pakistan poses not just to Afghanistan but to The Southern Caucasus as a whole.
They would prefer that you focus on Iran – which, ironically, is a more reliable non-Arab partner for stability (not conflict) in the Southern Caucasus, Asia and Eurasia.
[Please reference the below information to appreciate where exactly the Caucasus region is, because, as I said several years ago, it will soon become the graveyard for U.S. and Russian forces as they both compete for it's vast riches against the wills of local peoples and communities.   Ironically, the military forces of both superpowers will battle it out with local Islamic militants – but the likely (ultimate) winners may very well be....China, Turkey and Pakistan.]

Asian or Caucasian?
Strictly speaking, Pakistan is not a 'Caucasian' but an Asiatic country.
(I am not using this word in a racially-charged manner but solely from a demographic viewpoint.)    It is sort of 'borderline' Caucasus in it's geographic location.
Pakistan's ability to conduct covert operations abroad are almost second to none in the world – except perhaps those of Israel and the United States.   Pakistan poses an immediate threat to it's neighbor – India – and to world peace and stability in the Caucasus in general.
(But as a businessman, Trump is likely to see such 'rivalry' as long-term beneficially useful to the United States - another fatal error of judgement when dealing with Pakistan.    But is has 'the bomb' and rule number one is 'don't 'mess' with any country which has 'the bomb' - unless you want them to use it, against someone else, on your behalf, in a proxy war scenario, some day.)

Nobody will tell you that many in the Pakistan government (and Pakistani citizens) do not recognize the border with Afghanistan.
This is similar to the emerging Salafist Turkey not recognizing 'artificial' borders drawn up between it and Syria and Iraq by foreign colonial empires to 'break up' the Ottoman Empire.  Taking advantage of the chaos in the region, and with the full support (again) of our politicians in Christendom, Turkey has effectively annexed
(Anschluss) parts of Syria and Iraq.  (You didn't know this? You need to get better informed than what you see on the Russia Today, BBC, Fox and CNN.)
In the cases of Christian Georgia and Armenia, the Turks practically regard these Christian territories as 'outposts' - posing no immediate military threat to an expanding Turkish Salafist empire.   Nonetheless Turkey (to date, with 'quiet' U.S. support) covertly supports Salafist Islamist insurgency groups in these very same regions - again don't expect your mainstream media to provide you with any information about these facts.   [This may change under a Trump administration.
About two years ago I blogged an article about the Caspian Sea area  which you may wish to revisit to appreciate the demographics and politics.]

For this reason - and for the most part - Turkey uses 'soft diplomacy' – visa free access to Turkey for Georgians, preferential treatment for business and other Georgian-Turkish links etc etc.   Likewise for Armenia.
[You really should learn more about what your mainstream media does not cover to appreciate the real dangers and nightmares our Christian politicians, all for money, are creating in these regions because it might well be your son or daughter who is going to be called on to do the fighting and dying for unknown, unseen Western Christian politicians and business interests who have forged links with 'the devil' - all for Mammon - and absolutely nothing else and nobody else matters.     Remember your mainstream media and Reality TV characters are basically actors who are given a nightly script and have concealed earphones so that the chief editor or producer or other 'experts' can input additional questions to guests as and where the need arises based on real-time analysis of national and international viewings.]

Dust In the Wind
This is why I see Trump in Office as no different.   In fact he is likely to attempt intensify the business trade and military links in Turkey and Pakistan – to the detriment of the Afghan people.
But it will not be his children or grandchildren or great grandchildren who will be asked (or volunteer) to pay the ultimate price for 'freedom and democracy' when such regions erupt into all-out-war at some future date – but some poor uneducated and ill-informed (misinformed) 'patriot' from Berlin, Paris, London, Edinburgh, Rome, from California, Wisconsin, Iowa, Alaska, Florida, Idaho, Utah, Georgia and Washington, to name but a few places at random, who will be 'drunk' on the media rhetoric about how he or she will be fighting (and dying) in alien lands to 'preserve' values and ideals which we all cherish.
Nothing will be further from the truth but, as they say, 'there's one born every minute'.

Paul Ryan's Last Stand:
Reince Priebus

I have never had too much in common with the political outlook of Reince Priebus.
As with Ryan, however, I have always respected him as someone able, prepared and willing, ultimately, to 'broker' a deal in the interests of the country above the Party.
Trump's dumping of Priebus (if it happens tomorrow, Monday*) is probably the last signal Ryan needs to tell him that it's time to 'retire' from the House and focus on where his real political base is - in the community.

Even if Priebus stays on to act as 'go-between' I still maintain that Ryan cannot outlive a Trump administration - intact.

update for Sunday 13th November

*On Sunday evening (EST) it was announced that Priebus will take on the job as White House Chief Of Staff  to President Trump.

Cruel Intentions
President Trump would like to divide the globe between the United States, China and Russia - and the rest of us can go to hell if we don't like the arrangements.
He has grossly miscalculated the perceptions of Russia and China.
The United States, far from benefiting, will pay a very heavy price for this miscalculation.
Ultimately, the planet is not big enough for 3 superpowers to happily co-exist.
[China and Russia will no doubt also have taken note of how Trump deals with perceived weakness.]

[It is at historic moments such as this that Britain should very carefully reflect on whether leaving the single Common Market, The European Union, is really such a good idea after all.  The United Kingdom now has a choice between being a big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a bigger and most uncertain ocean.
The key issues for Britain are sovereignty, immigration, taxation,  and preferential tariffs.
Given the changed circumstances, The EU is most unwise to show no flexibility to the United Kingdom in these regards.]

At The Crossroads
As Trump will be building and consolidating his own 'movement' over the next four years, there will be a huge alienated base of White Republicans, Hispanics, Blacks, Latinos and ordinary (non-partisan) voters to be tapped into and organized as part of the new Republican coalition.
There are many senior Republicans (and former Presidents) just waiting for leadership - and Ryan has both the energy and the time to solidify this new base, should he choose this road to go down.

This all assumes that Ryan is smart enough to get out before Trump attempts to use his 'bottom of the barrel' contacts to discover some way to 'blackmail' him with some or other 'indiscretion', personal failing or political 'errors of judgement' and, as with Clinton, scuttle forever his chances of ever making it to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

[Clinton was right on the money about Trump's character - but sadly she will not be remembered for this.  It is reported that Trump is already discussing appointing military commanders who have very strong personal relationships with the Kremlin.  Because of this, there may well be new political relationships of old foes, forged out of necessity, on Capitol Hill.  Watch that space.]

Castles Of  Sand
An interesting issue will be will if Trump's 'empire' survives.  I would anticipate home grown 'terrorist' bomb attacks, fake threats, sieges and everything else you can imagine on anything domestically and abroad which has the name of  'Trump'  associated with it.
Even Rudy Giuliani's cracking down on the mainstream U.S. media as 'sponsors of terrorism' will not be able to prevent  news of such national and international events leaking out and being relayed to the world public (see my earlier blog about what if Trump became President.)

Night Of The Long Knives
[Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes]

As with The Fuhrer, Trump will begin by saying what a fantastic job they are all doing and what great admiration and respect he has for them all.
Trump will of course blame a national and international 'conspiracy' - as did Adolf Hitler - to 'purge' the CIA, the NSA and the Pentagon (with 'popular' approval after he has purged a compliant media into place - not too difficult with the 98% oligarch-owned of all mainstream U.S. media outlets.)

Will Trump succeed?  I certainly hope not.

They say that there were secret 'conspiracies' with political agendas (and much to be gained) against Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama to derail their policies and rubbish their legacies.
In Trump's particular case, there will be individuals and groups by the hundreds (if not thousands) lining up in public, in lines going all around the block,  just to sign up somewhere, to do the job for free - not even a 'thanks' required.
