President Donald Trump

Who Really Won the American Election? 

The American people have voted for a profound and fundamental change.
It's certainly not the change I would have liked to have seen in America but it is their free choice in one of the world's remaining democracies.
'Broken Washington', 'despair with corrupt politicians who put foreign global interests before the American people' and 'international financial banking and trade conspiracies against America' were amongst the motivating themes of the Trump Presidential campaign.
But can President Trump deliver on his promises and what will happen to him if he cannot?  We no longer live in a unipolar world where the balance of trade and services lie exclusively with the West (America) and its Allies.
 There are new emerging trade blocs and superpowers-in-the-waiting, ready and willing to challenge American pre-eminence worldwide -  and the only way to stop them will be war - and not the trade and job benefits which President-elect Trump has promised his followers.
But are global trade wars (or even more military conflicts) what the American people really want and have really in mind when they voted President Trump into Office?
  

Who Benefits?

Firstly, who will be the beneficiaries both in the United States and overseas?

The greatest long-term winners are both the Russian Federation and China.
The Russian Federation because it was thanks to Wikileaks that the perception of Hillary Clinton was (wrongly in my view) re-enforced as a 'disaster' for America.
[Ironically, President-elect Trump no doubt will deal with the danger of Wikileaks much more ruthlessly than ever a President-elect Clinton would have dared.  I would not at all be surprised if  more 
'active measures' to silence Wikileaks will be an option on the table as President Trump more and more appreciates that one of the factors that put him in power today ( the said Wikileaks and its effect on the trust or distrust the American people had in Secretary of State Clinton) will, in another instant and scenario, destroy him tomorrow - should he displease Moscow - which inevitably he will have to at some stage.  
In any event, in my opinion, the world will eventually tire of Wikileaks holding a 'sword of Damocles' over the democratic process for forever and a day and a point will be reached where what little support it has just whittles away and Mr Assange is left to 'swing in the wind'. ]

The next theme is 
Bringing Jobs Back To America
This can only be achieved if other nations accept the economic 'diktats' which President Trump will attempt to impose.
But what if they (Pacific rim nations, like the Philippines President, Duterte) say 'up yours Trump, our future is with China'; will he send in the Marines to enforce 'gunboat diplomacy'?; how will he impose trade tariffs on countries which, in effect, 'turn their backs' on the United States in favor of China (in a frighteningly similar manner that the European Union is threatening to do with the United Kingdom.)
And what if South and Central American countries go likewise - all moving towards Russia and China.
Do You think that this will never happen?
From seeing President Trump's 'entourage' I am very sceptical that he will succeed in enforcing new trade arrangements on countries other than Canada, Europe, The United Kingdom a handful of Gulf Kingdoms and (possibly) India.
India is an exception because its relations with the Obama administration have been lukewarm and because of President Trumps ' stand against Islamic extremism, this will 'translate well' with the Indian (Hindu, Buddhist and minority Christian) citizens as a whole.
Many nations - mainly in Africa and The Muslim Gulf States - I have already discounted since they will fall in line, economically, with whoever is in power.
[The Gulf kingdoms have no choice with Iran now poised to dominate Iraq and even the Straits of Hormuz.   North Africa is in total chaos and the rest of central Africa no different - thanks to Islamic (ISIS and Al Qaeda) insurgency against mainly Christian and animist countries across the Sahel, parts of equatorial Africa, with bloody tribal wars in the Congo and parts of West Africa.]
But the Pacific nations are an entirely different matter.

Bringing The Jobs Back To America:
But Where Will The Jobs 'Come Back' From?
Conceivably from Mexico, from Canada and from The European Union Member States. 
Unless Americans want to be paying outrageous prices for their mobile phones, electronic goods, their Levis, Tee-Shirts and other consumer products, most unlikely from China and the Far East.   
Neither is there much hope in expanded export markets in North Africa - thanks to the chaos created by U.S. foreign policy over the past decade.
(see my earlier blogs.)   Regions in West Africa and possibly East Africa offer some hope of expanded markets for U.S. goods and services - but none which will bring jobs back to the United States.
Likewise in South East Asia.   There are increasing possibilities of expanded trade and services markets in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Burma, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and (potentially) India, but their politicians will quickly move towards China if the prospect of investment and trade terms appear (or they are offered) more favorable arrangements or preferences than currently exist with the U.S.A.
Higher taxes on overseas corporations engaged in the export-import markets will likewise do little to boost the U.S. economy - without it having a devastating effect on the pockets of ordinary folk in those regions who voted for a profound change in their economic circumstances.

'Make America Great Again'
Trump's key pledge is 'make America great again'.
But America already was great, so, according to Trump supporters, this translates more as a 'drumbeat' and 'war cry' against nations who do not acquiesce with U.S. trade policy - and this in itself is likely to drive most of them away from America and toward Russia and China at a faster rate than has ever been the case in recent history.
The key here will be whether China can 'exploit' this 'golden' opportunity.  I do not think that China has yet matured to the point where it is capable of taking sufficient advantage of the chaos caused internationally by a Trump victory by working with its Asiatic counterparts as equals rather than as subservient vassals.  

The International 'Conspiracies' Against America
If I am wrong and China can see the way ahead, then we could even see more seismic shifts during the Trump Presidency - the movement of international bodies (such as the United Nations - regarded by many Trump supporters as part of 'the global conspiracy') out of the American hemisphere.
(I said about 10 years ago it would not surprise me if one day the U.N. and other international bodies relocate to Beijing - but even I could not have foreseen these conditions giving them such momentum as the hatred and contempt which such will now find themselves under a President Trump
administration and supporters now seek to impose.)

Such international bodies concerned with peace and security, health and trade, will all be effectively told either 'do what the Trump administration wants or get outta town'.

Handover Time
So folks, do not be surprised or shocked when, at the eventual end (or close) of a Trump Presidency, far from bringing jobs in any great numbers back to America and making America 'great' again the entire balance of power has finally shifted to a rival superpower(s)  or 'blocs' - and the issue we will then be facing will be the prospect of a global war as America fights back to regain lost trade routes and international markets to 'new kids on the block' with a new drumbeat to rally the Trump entourage - but this time with the threat of nuclear and biological arsenals as backdrops to the slogan of 'failure is not an option'.



*Japan, South Korea, Singapore,and Taiwan are in a category of their own - being the engines of progress which most of the developing world has sought to emulate.  If they all collectively, as with the Philippines, move in the direction of China, which though unlikely is not impossible, this is bad news for President elect-Trump.

 A few days ago the FBI Director, James Comey, sent an unusually short, cryptic but innuendo-filled email to Republican and Democratic Congress Members on the eve of the most important election in the democratic world

4 Things You Might Not Know About James Comey, FBI Director




Fact 1
*The FBI Director was 'frustrated' at being stonewalled by the Department of Justice so close to an election - and may have 'over-reached his authority' by 'going rogue'.
The Chicago Tribune quotes the DoJ as having warned FBI Officials that Comey was 'going rogue' (i.e. had gone 'off the reservation' and was 'on his own')

Fact 2
*There have been ongoing wars between the FBI and Justice Department over several totally unrelated investigations - all of which have convinced the FBI Director Comey that the DoJ and not himself, is 'politically steering' legal investigations across the land - much to his frustration.

 Fact 3
*The FBI Director and his wife suffered a personal family tragedy in 1995 and there is some cause to believe that Patrice Comey's frustration with the lack of universal screening health care (preventative action) by both political parties to save the lives of other children (like their son Collin) may be one factor which caused Director Comey to 'loose faith' in the 'system' per ipse to 'deliver results' - hence his decision to 'go public' rather than 'suffer in silence'.
[I can empathize with the family in this regard for several reasons - which is why I am factoring this in as subconscious motive - and would not lightly use this term if I did not have the personal experience nor the professional qualification to so factor. PE ]

 Fact 4
*For the above reasons Director Comey had no future (as Director) in a President Clinton administration and, because of constant 'scraps' with the DoJ, his position, even within the FBI, was becoming 'untenable' as complaints that he was 'difficult' to work with, would be an understatement, according to unquoted sources.

Fact 
*Both political parties utilize the FBI and the DoJ wherever and whenever they can to garnish advantages for either prosecuting or withholding or stonewalling or leaving cases (with political overtures) in abeyance - or just deprioritizing them into (eventual) abeyance due to lack of funds and lack of bipartisan (political) approval.


It is probably a thankless job - whoever is in it.
You please one politician and displease others.
One lot praise you today - the same lot wanna burn you at the stake tomorrow if you transgress or hinder or question what they want to achieve or even caution them that they (or one of their own) might be breaking (or have broken) the law.

Expect some new information about Director Comey himself and (if you check Facebook or Twitter) maybe even some leaked internal memos between his Department and that of the DoJ in the next few days.
If I were you I would check the alternative media - Facebook or Twitter - for example - out first rather than rely on your compliant and docile mainstream media for the full stories about this matter - you are likely to get just as good a picture from the fringe as you are from corporate and compliant mainstream media sources.


 None of the above excuses recklessness on the part of the FBI.

 On A Side Note To This Blog:
The Comey's child Collin died shortly after birth from a very preventable bacterial infection - had universal prenatal screening for expectant mothers been covered by the health care insurers.
There has been no significant move in the United States towards preventable screening for the population as a whole for this nor other bacterial infections which could easily be detected and in the process thousands of deaths or severe disabilities prevented in unborn children - and all because of the high costs to the health insurance industry who do not want to foot the bill.
Even the FBI Director himself has limitations to his powers. 
This is enough to make anyone loose faith in 'the system' delivering if you just sit around and wait.
 [Having said that, what can be more 'reckless' than a 'belief' in political power and putting profit before people?]


Perhaps President Clinton, if elected, and as a mother herself, will do the right thing for the country and ensure that healthcare is genuinely overhauled to make people and not profit the objective - introducing statutory preventable screenings across a range of nationwide diseases - a new objective for a more just and equitable caring society than exists at present in the United States?;because for certain, her opposite number (Mr Trump) from his 'ivory tower of wealth', has no incentive to so do for the mass of the populace.

BUT THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN UNLESS YOU GET OUT AND VOTE!

Those New Emails and
Presidential Hopeful Hillary Clinton

Those New Emails and Presidential Candidates
The recent decision by the FBI to open a new investigation into related emails on a different server other than that of Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton must be seen in the light of new information having been discovered or made available.
*It was initially unclear on which server the relevant material was discovered. It is now being claimed to have emanated from Senator Clinton's civilian (unprotected) server.


Are They Relevant?
The sources, in this instance, are immaterial.
What is important is that the FBI is given the opportunity to study the relevance (if any) of this new material and to report its findings at the earliest opportunity.
As I write this blog no doubt the emails are being scrutinized to the finest minute and legal opinions are being (if not already) given about what further steps or indeed recommendations, if any, should be made to the Department of Justice.
Sadly, what Paul Ryan has not said (to date) is that, in the interests of democracy, the investigations must be speedily dealt with so that the election due in less than two weeks can take place in a democratic environment.

Speaking Out
In my opinion, one of the roles of the Speaker is to oversee the exercise of democracy - and to speak out in its defense, where necessary.
The shadow of another 'stolen' election (similar to that of Florida where Presidential hopeful Al Gore was, according to many U.S. citizens, even today, 'robbed' of the U.S. Presidency because of Gerry Mandering) because of political interference will not be perceived well - should the U.S. wish to retain it's status as the world's foremost democracy.

Withdrawal Of Senator Clinton's Access Privileges
Paul Ryan has requested that Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton be denied access to confidential top secret briefings because of her negligence in handling classified data. Sadly for Representative Ryan, this late intervention is unlikely to cut him any slack with a President-elect Donald Trump.  Ryan is perceived as 'part of the problem.  Of the 'old Republican guard', the GOP, which has lost its way and has no place in a 'Trump White House incorporated'.

Fidelity, Bravery and Integrity
My own view is that it is in the interests of the FBI to get the matter out of the way before the election - regardless of what the different politicians from both main parties are advocating.

Decline and Fall
A Trump Presidency will be just another step in the direction of  'Decline and Fall of The Roman Empire'.
For example, in the Philippines (which I know very well - having both lived there and researched it extensively)  (to the shock of the State Department)  President Duterte has said, to both the European Union and The United States, in a nutshell: ''F*** you, our future is with China.'' ''They can offer us a better deal, as fellow-Asiatics, than your imperialism and colonialism has ever done for our country.''   In my opinion nothing could be further from the truth.  President Duterte is just as ignorant as his counterparts - the fast-emerging U.S. and Western politicians (such as, for example, 'Fat Boy' Johnson, Secretary of State in the U.K.) who are ignorant, but masters of speech and of war.


The Pre-Emptive Mindset Is Conditioned or Evolved, It Was Not Born That Way
As I said in one of my few interviews, we have entered an era of ignorant politicians coming into power who are running the world towards unnecessary (and uneconomic) conventional and 'limited arena' nuclear wars - all fueled out of total ignorance, twisted ultra-nationalism and sheer greed - with no thought for future consequences.
Sadly, war, is, in my view, not always avoidable. My contention is that it should be a last rather than a priority option which politicians, if they get their way, are increasingly seeking ways and means to make it such. 

The Fog Of War
To put it in a nutshell, what has emerged in the U.S. is a generation of  political naivety who wield a frightening level of power, who live in a 'bubble' and have no appreciation of their own (nor their country's) mortality, egged on in a hyper-mediated  vacuum, a hypercube of 'invincibility' and 'ultimate victory' which, sooner or later, motivates the thought of pre-emptive 'first-strike' options to settle political and economic differences with competing superpowers and smaller nation states.

 Of Democracy and Democratic Values 
(Have Any Heard of Plato's 'Republic'?; I think Not)
When you permit armed militias to be created the length and breadth of the land who perceive themselves as 'last lines of defence of democracy' or defending certain ('treasured') amendments of the constitution or to retain economic and social privileges, it's only a matter of time until such armed militias see their role in opposition to the State or Federation in pursuit of their own agendas and privileges.
It is only a logical extension that pre-emptive actions against real or imagined 'infringements' of such 'perceived' democratic 'values' is the next step.

This is why most of the world is wise enough not to permit armed militias (as opposed to citizens' rights to bear arms) to exist -  to the extent that they pose a threat to the security of the state or country.

The Doctrine Of PreEmption: 
Ringing Eight Bells
Should Mr Trump be elected he will attempt to extend U.S. influence in a way unacceptable to most of Asia and South America.
The economic future of the world for at least the next 200 years lies in the Pacific rim, with China, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia and The Philippines playing critical parts.  (I exclude Australia because it is, to put it frankly, at the mercy of economic developments in China.  It would not at all surprise me if conflict breaks out at a future point between Australia and Indonesia for control of valuable sea lanes, oil and gas deposit fields in Straits curently within the territorial jurisdiction of Indonesia - but strategic resources which Australia will desperately need if it is not to become a poor Asiatic backwater in an otherwise thriving region.  Under such conditions a strengthening of ties between the U.S. and Australia as its 'eyes and ears' will only be to the benefit of both parties.  But such alliances will ultimately be regarded as 'threatening' to Indonesian sovereignty which, similar to the Philippines, might well pivot closer to China both economically and militarily.  It is for such reasons that I said in my last blog the election of a President Trump will undoubtedly move the hands of the clock closer to 'midnight', the end of this 'watch', than has ever been the case for over fifty years.)

Off Track?
So what in hell has all the above to do with this issue of emails?; you may well ask. 
Should this issue of Senator Hillary Clinton's emails not be resolved before election day and the electorate (in my opinion wrongly) perceive Hillary Clinton as 'untrustworthy' because of the mass media mis-reporting of FBI's inconclusive (or ongoing investigations) on or at Election Day,  the credibility of many institutions (The Presidency, The Electoral Process, The Justice System, and the FBI itself) are all gravely undermined, whoever is elected as President of the United States.
All of this will be reflected in the perception of the U.S. in many parts of the world as an 'unreliable' ally, one which is too fickle and lacks 'commonsense' in judgement - prefering instead to place itself and its values on hypocritcial soap boxes so it can preach to the world principles and codes of conduct which it itself either lost a long time ago or indeed has long-forgotten how to apply justly and fairly.

What If........it's........
 President Donald Trump?

The Shape of Things to Come
Should Donald Trump be elected to the Office of President of The United States, there will be a lot of disappointments.
The first major political casualty will be the man who I earlier described as one of the most intelligent people in the House today, and a likely future Presidential candidate (but not if Trump has his way) Paul Ryan.
Paul Ryan will, at some early future point, resign and bide his time as a local activist until Mr Trump disappears from the scene.   (Ryan may well have to wait a very long time for The Great Manipulator and his 'entourage' to exit the scene.
A President Trump, with a hit list of those Republicans who no longer, in his view, represent the Party, will no doubt take a lot of pleasure in taking revenge on Ryan - and ensure that in the process he forever scuttles Ryan's future hopes and dreams of ever making it to the White House.
Ryan is clever enough to appreciate you cannot work constructively with someone like Trump.
Sooner or later they would both inevitably have to part company, no matter how conciliatory Ryan attempted to be with regard to policy support and development on behalf of President Trump.)

Apart from the obvious political replacement candidates chosen by President Trump the list of additional (non-essential - not required because of political changes at the top)  'resignations' are likely to be very substantial from every Department: Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Labor, Health and Human Services, Energy, Treasury, Department of Justice, Homeland Security, Veterans Affairs, Department of The Interior and from The Department Of Agriculture.
Also expect senior resignations from the Federal Reserve, which is not a Government Department, to take place.

 Expect a Trump Presidency to appoint 'Witchfinder Generals' to 'go after [perceived] 'enemies' of Donald Trump - across all Departments and in both Houses, amongst Republican and Democrats alike.

(In another era, more robust official steps might have been taken to stop Trump becoming President.
)
Then there are the likely senior (non-essential) resignations from the CIA, the NSA and all other branches of the Armed Forces including the Department of Defense.

To The Gullible and Subservient Corporate Mainstream  Media:
Be Careful What You Wish For
(A Coup By Any Other Name)
If the U.S. media reported them all, it would look like a coup d'etat had taken place in the United States. But the (usual subservient) corporate media will just fall in line and you will be hard pressed to gauge the extent of the political chaos and revolution which is taking place within.
Neither will the media itself escape the wrath of Trump and his extremist supporters in both Houses.
Indeed it will also be amongst the first of casualties.
New defamation (censorship) laws (similar to Singapore) will be introduced to put the media into checkmate.
Familiar faces will announce they are 'stepping down', leaving politics, going into business, retiring for 'health reasons'.
(We can thank the Russian Federation for this state of events.)
In the Kremlin, President Putin, his heads of Military, the FSB and the GRU will all be celebrating the first victory ever of the birth of a new order on the American continent - and speculating where these new possibilities can take Russian - U.S. relations.
(In actual fact, the hands of the clock will have moved closer to midnight, for all of us, than they ever were since the Cuban Missile Crisis in the 1960s.)

The media will (just about) live to rue the day it was complicit in the birth of the Trump era - before it too finally succumbs to total subservience - a prefect clone of it's Russian Federation counterpart.
Of course all will be explained away to an almost totally ignorant American public audience as one by one, media empires are 'taken over' by individuals personally loyal to one individual - President Donald Trump.
A few 'bones' will be 'thrown' to the Trump 'faithful' -the 'common' 'plebes' - to convince them that he is 'one of them' (or at least continue to keep them angry and now direct their motivation and energies away from domestic stagnation and against those 'disloyal' and 'enemies within' who are 'conspiring' to prevent America becoming great again.)

A Hail Mary
The McCarthy witch hunt era will be reborn anew - with new internal enemies of the State to be burnt at the stake (or deported.)
And so it will be with other known household institutions which have guaranteed American pre-eminence throughout the globe - as one by one they are all absorbed within the Trump empire - the logic being that you cannot organize America's economy successfully unless you can replicate those of China and the Russian Federation.
As individuals of wealth attempt to leave the United States for citizenship of other jurisdictions, they will face huge 'penalty fines' before being allowed to relinquish American citizenship for foreign shores.
The IRS will be instructed to mercilessly pursue any individual of wealth attempting to relinquish U.S. citizenship and transfer their substantial assets abroad.
Global corporations will be legally obliged (forced) to repatriate to within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States all wealth held overseas - except where special permission has been granted by the Internal Revenue Service.
Some will choose Canada, others Mexico, the Caribbean and South America.
Citizenships For Economic Refugees
Russia and China, amongst other nations, will attempt to woo Americans of wealth desperately seeking to 'escape' their predicament under a Trump Presidency.
 And the above will only be the start.

 Somewhere....... Over the Rainbow.........
And what about the ordinary American folk?
They will be exactly where they have always been - angry and confused - but the great manipulator will know exactly how to channel away this anger and confusion so that the real issues of the day (economic decline and how to revive America as a global industrial and economic force) can be comfortably kicked somewhere far far down the road for another day, for someone else to resolve at another time and in another era - assuming  the Trump 'dynasty' (or cult of personality) has an 'end'.

Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton,John Podesta, Russia Today (RT) and Those Wikileaks Emails


I just want to very briefly touch on Russia Today
(Keiser Report, 22nd October) to show how biased against Hillary Clinton the Presidential Campaign has become.

'Right On the Money'
When President Obama assumed office in 2008 it is alleged that Citicorp/Citibank choose his Cabinet for him.
Not at all.
Being 'right on the money' (reference to Podesta's response to Citicorp when consulted about the best people to choose for particular Cabinet posts) is not the same as asking Citi to nominate the Cabinet members.
But this has been lost upon the populace as a whole who prefer to listen to Donald Trump's interpretation of RT's interpretation of the emails rather than either analyse the latter for themselves.

What A Consultation 'Exercise' Is
I want to relate a particular instance when NATO was involved in a very controversial campaign several decades ago.
At that time I was active in the Atlantic Council of the UK.
Because the NATO policy was new and controversial (believe it or not!) NATO ran a consultation 'exercise' to gauge the 'thinking' of members. I do not know if it was across the board or random sampling.
In any event I was asked if I approved of this particular policy and if not what my own suggestions would be.
I thought long and hard about my response because, like my nemesis (the politicians) I appreciated that I was being asked for a view which could (conceivably) feed into 'the system' (up the chain so to speak) and affect the lives of others.

Obama Saved The U.S. and World Economic Order – And If You Don't Like Me Saying That, Tough
What the transition team were effectively doing,
in the midst of the worst economic crisis the United States and the world had seen since the 1930s (yes folks, you have rarely been told, but President Obama saved not just the U.S. but the economic structure of the world – much to the disappointment of Russia Today and the Kremlin. For that, he and his original Cabinet will be forever hated in Moscow) were attempting to identify the best people to fill posts in what was an 'emergency' 'firefighting' Cabinet where the 'best brains in the land' (within the known 'system') were desperately needed to save America and the world economic system as we know it from total collapse – and to assist in a process of domestic and world recovery.

What Citi was being asked was part of a 'round robin' consultation with corporations (which included JP and other leaders in the field of economics and social policy) close to the administration.


Wikileaks Is Not Infallible(!)
Wikileaks was unable to 'put the total picture together' because what it could 'hack' or what were leaked were coming from independent mainframe systems – some of which were more vulnerable than others to either hacking (again probably by Moscow) or infiltration.

Take Clinton Down! At All Costs!
But the only story which Moscow is 'pushing' on the eve of the American election is that John Podesta asked Citigroup to select the U.S. Cabinet of President Obama – so the U.S. Presidential election process was a sham.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
The desperation (and now panic in Moscow) to see Mr Donald Trump as the next U.S. President could not be more in evidence than this last fling of everything – including 'the kitchen sink' – at the Clinton Presidential campaign in one last ditch, one last desperate bid, to save Donald Trump from electoral defeat in 3 weeks time.

Will it work? Are the American electorate so gullible? Will America choose a billionaire as it's 'man of the people'; as a man who 'understands' from personal experience and suffering, 'ordinary folk', their fears, their needs, their hopes and desires for themselves and for their families?
Only time will tell.

To paraphrase (or constitutionally interpret!) one Supreme Court Judge:

''you'd wanna be a real dummy (or dopey) to select Trump for President.
Me, I'm getting the hell outta Dodge if he comes into Office!''

Russia Today (RT)

(I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Outta Here!)

Making News

The last thing a journalist or news network ever desires is to be in the news.

Our task is to make the news – not to be a star (or celebrity) in it (!)

That's exactly what happened to Russia Today yesterday – but don't expect to be informed about it on the BBC, Fox or Sky Television Networks.

Russia Today is part-funded by the Russian government and is, for want of a better word, run lock stock and barrel by staunch supporters of Mr Vladimir Putin.
(No different from our own major news and commercial networks - which are owned by companies who themselves have strong links with the political class, at very senior levels.)

Leni's Children
I have on several occasions cited RT as being the most effective news propaganda machine in the world today.
It replaced the BBC about 5 years after it first started broadcasting – and the world of news (or propaganda) has never been the same since.
The BBC, CNN and Fox all changed our perception of what news is or should be.
Russia Today Televison Network is the 'new kid on the block' and it too has changed the world of information - as we know it.

If you really understand propaganda (and I have been very fortunate in my life to have an opportunity to study it in operation) then you can appreciate Fox, CNN, The BBC and now RT, not just as news outlets but as art forms in themselves.)

Run, Buddy, Run

RT is so effective a propaganda machine (much more than CNN or Fox) that questions have been raised continuously on the Hill about how to stop it's influence – worldwide. Nothing so far has worked in this regard.
No amount of millions or hundreds of millions of dollars thrown at other networks have had any significant impact in any way shape or form on RT nor of its ability to influence the shape of events worldwide.

Part of the reason for the failure to halt the haemorrhaging of the local populace away from 'traditional networks' (such as the BBC for example) towards RT can be found in what I call the 'type' of individuals entering politics in Western Europe and the United States today and their perception of news as a technology of political control.
Because they see RT with 'tunnel vision' they haven't a clue about where to start to counteract it's influences both at home and across the planet:

Ours Is News – Yours Is Propaganda !
If you step back you can see across Europe a move away from traditional politicians and towards extremism.
(Ironically, RT, as a propaganda network, has been encouraging such divisions simply to cause as much disruptions to the political and financial structures as is possible within the limits of its remit. To complicate matters even further, our own politicians have been 'aiding and abetting' RT over at least the past two decades with remarkable foreign policy blunders which have destroyed our abilities in the West to sell basic goods and services (everything except weapons) across much of the Middle East and North Africa today.

Killing The Messenger

The 'nuclear' solution to the problem caused by RT's successful inroads into popular viewing availability options is to simply find ways of closing it off from mainstream media access network streams and push it into the back alleys. Effectively, to isolate the channel and make it harder for the general populace to access it's propaganda or news.
The decision to withdraw UK banking facilities is just one step in this direction.

Neither is it inconceivable that mobile networks will not 'pull the plug' on RT or recategorize it as 'premium rate' for access.

This, in my opinion, as I said a year ago or longer, is a very dangerous path to go down.
The only time I would ever support such action would be in the advent of a world war (really serious stuff!)

Information and It's Messengers
Are Always Amongst The First Casualties Of War
Long gone are the days where you 'declare war' on another country.
Today and tomorrow you will just have to look for the (subtle) signs elsewhere that The Rubicon has been crossed.

(There is no doubt in my mind that many in mainstream news in the UK are concerned about RT's right to broadcast without hinderance – but they too have mortgages, bills to pay, families, careers and promotions to think about.)

Support for colleagues at a foreign news network (RT) dedicated to the economic and political destruction of life as we know it is not a very motivating factor to garnish their support - under such circumstances (!)


Mad, Mad As Hell (!)

I have been incensed by the vitriol against U.S. Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton being spewed out by RT on a daily basis. It has been a very long time since I have seen such biased coverage of a U.S. election campaign by a major foreign TV network.

Should Hillary Clinton be elected President of The United States, RT might just as well pack it's bags on the American continent as a whole. In this regard, it has only itself to blame.


The First Real Cyberwar Between the Superpowers (The Russian Federation and The United States)

Should President Clinton assume office in January (which I hope she will) forget about throwing hundreds of millions of dollars to counteract RT propaganda– it will simply be closed down on the U.S. mainland. Companies such as Verizon will, more likely than not, introduce access streaming fees which specifically target the ability of the RT network to provide an effective service.
But this will only be the start. Expect the Russian government to retailiate with similar restrictions on European and U.S. networks.

I call this the first global cyber war because access to RT, even at cyber cafes, will be 'closed down' across the world (at least that cyber world where servers pass through mainland and other territorial jurisdictions of the United States.)

It might well be in your interest to learn the meaning of different HTTP error codes now – before you start to see them on your screen when attempting to access RT.

As to whether restricting RT's broadcasts will help or hinder the fight for the heart and soul of propaganda worldwide, only time will tell.


Are we at war? Watch out for the signs - or shapes in the clouds - because for sure, the media of today will never tell you straight to your face (!)

On 17th October, 2016, RT Released the press statement below:

''RT has received a letter from Natwest, part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, which has a significant shareholding by the UK government, informing it that its UK banking facilities with the bank will be withdrawn without explanation or redress.
This decision is incomprehensible, and without warning. It is however, not at odds with the countless measures that have been undertaken in the UK and Europe over the last few years to ostracize, shout down, or downright impede the work of RT.
RT UK will continue its operations uninterrupted.''
